Performance Design Lab Curriculum

Our systematic and successful approach to performance improvement is available to performance improvement practitioners through a series of workshops. Our workshops offer:

  • Teaching by our senior consultants and partners who will share their real world experiences in applying our methodologies.
  • Plenty of practice through hands-on case exercises and/or application to the clients own situation.
  • A small group setting (class size is limited)

PDL Basics

  • Creating the 3-D Enterprise: An Introduction

    This seminar presents the concepts and models from the recently published books White Space Revisited: Creating Value through Process and Rediscovering Value: Leading the 3D Enterprise to Sustainable Success. In order to deliver ongoing value to customers, organizations must be capable of designing and managing across white space, and must maintain balance between their internal components.

  • Creating the 3-D Enterprise: The Workshop

    This workshop presents the concepts and models from the recently published books White Space Revisited: Creating Value through Process and Rediscovering Value: Leading the 3-D Enterprise for Sustainable Success. In order to deliver ongoing value to customers, organizations must be capable of designing and managing across white space, and must maintain balance between their internal components. The first half-day of this workshop presents the content of our introduction seminar. The workshop then goes on to explore the acts of process management, and provides practice in applying PDL’s proven tools and principles to your unique business situation.

  • BPM Revisited

    This workshop begins with a look at the BPM (Business Process Management) movement and then presents the concepts and models from the recently published books White Space Revisited: Creating Value through Process and Rediscovering Value: Leading the 3D Enterprise to Sustainable Success. In order to deliver ongoing value to customers, organizations must be capable of designing and managing across white space, and must maintain balance between their internal components.

  • Process Thinking

    This workshop is designed to orient employees to the concept of process and specifically to the application of process to their organization. Process Centered organizations may wish to incorporate this workshop into their new employee orientation. Employees will learn: “How you add value to the organization”

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

    This workshop will provide you with a model, tools and lots of practice for setting up and successfully overcoming the pitfalls of cross-functional teamwork.

Workshops for Managers

  • Metrics and Process Management

    This workshop presents PDL’s methodology and toolset for designing the planning, measurement, review and management system for processes. Participants will practice the application of the steps and tools through a case study.

  • The Value Dimension Workshop

    This workshop is designed to provide teams with an understanding of the role and power of the value creation system and processes in delivering organization performance. During the workshop, the team will develop and analyze models of its organization and its value creation architecture in order to build a roadmap for improving and managing those processes. The team will identify critical process variables to be managed. The team will learn how and why processes fail and the critical success factors for any process improvement project.

  • The Management System Workshop

    This workshop provides intact management teams new insight into the concepts and approaches required to establish an effective management system throughout their organization. Participants will learn the importance of managing not only the critical resources of the organization (people, budgets, etc.), but also the essential value-creating processes that cut across multiple functional areas. A variety of hand-on tools will demonstrate how an effective management system can be designed and integrated into the day-to-day operation of the organization.

  • The Role of Process Owner

    This workshop provides organizations an understanding of the; requirements, challenges, and day-to-day activities needed for individuals to succeed in the Process Owner role. During the workshop, various approaches to Process Ownership are discussed and evaluated, providing participants insight into how this role can best be integrated into their particular organization.

    This course is designed to present practitioners with the basic tools and techniques for documenting processes with ample opportunity to apply through case study and exercises.

  • Process Modeling and Improvement

    This course is designed to present practitioners with tools and techniques modeling, analyzing and improving processes, with ample opportunity to apply through case study and exercises.

  • Rummler Process Methodology

    This workshop presents the latest evolution of Geary Rummler’s robust methodology for analyzing, designing and implementing work processes that align with business needs and the management processes required to ensure continuous alignment. In this update synergies between process change and IT development methodologies are identified and integrated tools for defining business requirements that foster collaboration between process designers and performer experts, both systems and human, are introduced.

  • Serious Performance Consulting

    This workshop is based on Dr. Geary Rummler’s 35 years of experience as a performance consultant to Fortune 500 companies. The course provides a comprehensive framework for understanding the variables that impact performance and organizational results, and a huge set of tools and design templates for finding and addressing results improvement opportunities.
